The NHRA is a strong supporter of College Relations. Student members have the same access to events and resources as all other members. Additionally, the NHRA has a program specifically for undergraduate college students and has even been involved in a volunteer HR working day with Animal Allies.

"Working with students is an integral part of our mission (the NHRA) and we're excited to continue to increase the student presence at our many events and connect these students with HR professionals in the Duluth/Superior area. These connections provide a learning opportunity for both the student and the HR professional and it has been a great experience to see the success."

-Satrina Nikula, NHRA College Relations Director

 College Mentorship Program

The College Mentorship Program is a program hosted by the NHRA that connects college students pursuing a degree in Human Resources (HR) with HR professionals in the area.

The purpose of the program is to provide students with HR experience outside of the classroom, as well as networking experience, through a guided mentorship. Each student is matched with a mentor based on HR areas of interest.

Expectations in the program include about 1-2 hours a month during a college semester participating in activities like job shadowing, reviewing a résumé, mock interviewing, attending a job fair, attending an NHRA or other educational meeting and other special projects or tasks - the activity list is limitless!

We also host a kick-off event to give the program a jump start, have a good time and network. This program is in it's 4th successful year and we're excited to continue offering such a valuable program to the students in our community.

If you're interested in participating in this program as a mentor or a student or if you're interested in participating in other programs with students please email us at the address at the bottom of the page. We are also very interested in any ideas or suggestions you have!

"Since I go to an online program, networking is difficult. I attend NHRA meetings regularly, but I was wanting to do more. The mentorship program has been an amazing experience. My mentor gave me a lot of good advice, set me up to network where I would have never been able to before, and was truly interested in my success. I could not have asked for a better mentor. This program has helped me immensely and it was fun!!!"
