SHRM has established two behavioral competency-based certifications, the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP®) for early- and mid-career professionals and the SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP®) for senior-level practitioners.

Mitchell Hamline's School of Law has an HR Compliance Certificate that offers practice-based training for HR professionals and their advisors, focused on identifying, evaluating, and implementing compliance programs.

The SHRM Foundation has developed the Veterans at Work Certificate for HR professionals, hiring managers, and front-line supervisors. Participants learn the value that Veterans bring to the civilian workplace, as well as recruitment and retention guidance. Participant earn 10 professional development credits towards SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP with completion of the certificate.
